Joe Sanders, VP Technical Services, Panini North AmericaRigorous demand for Panini’s market-leading Vision X™ check scanning platform and the recently released Panini I:Deal™ has prompted the company to expand their technical services capabilities to support the tremendous growth. Panini has more than doubled the size of their North American technical services department over the past year, and continues to set the industry standard in the critical areas of services and support for distributed check capture. Joe Sanders, VP Technical Services, Panini North America, will discuss what to expect from Panini Services this year! |
You recently announced the launch of a Panini Scanner Portal. What is it?
JS: The Panini Vision X™ Scanner Portal allows users of Panini’s market-leading product suite to obtain statistics about their check scanner. This web portal release demonstrates our continuous commitment to setting industry standards in the critical areas of distributed capture.
What kind of information can the customer expect to receive from the portal?
JS: Customers can visit www.paniniportal.com to obtain their check scanner’s configuration, usage statistics, serial number and more by simply connecting the scanner to their PC. This information is vital for asset management and routine maintenance and allows customers to capture the data at their convenience. Additionally, Panini customers now have the ability to purchase supplies for their Panini Vision X and submit requests for maintenance via the web — this was previously conducted via email, fax or phone.
“It’s a one-stop shop for your Panini Vision X,” says Joe Sanders, VP Technical Services, Panini North America.
Will you continue to add new functionality to the scanner portal?
JS: Absolutely. Future functionalities of the Panini scanner portal will include support of the new Panini I:Deal, the ability to automatically email your scanner’s configuration once retrieved, an FAQ section, and a training video for the Panini WaffleCard cleaning technology.
There seems to be a lot of buzz in the industry around check scanners supporting TWAIN 2.0. Why is this important? Will Panini support TWAIN 2.0?
JS: It’s important as a solutions provider, especially in today’s economic conditions, to give customers the best “bang for their buck”. Because TWAIN is the standard software protocol for most imaging technology, and because Panini is the market leader, we will support TWAIN 2.0. A beta driver can now be provided to customers upon request, and we’re very happy to speak with customers about what this new technology means for them and the industry. TWAIN 2.0 will allow our customers to utilize Panini’s check scanning devices for nearly all their imaging needs.
Is there anything else you’d like to add about Panini Services?
JS: I would just like to make sure all our customers know about and have seen the capability of Panini’s MICR/OCR and ultrasonic double document detection technologies. We are seeing a very high interest in these state-of-the-art technologies as early adopters are experiencing phenomenal MICR read rates and drastically decreased false double document feeds. I would encourage all our customers to ask their account managers for more information.
